This humanoid robot can help manufacturing and other industries build digital twins.
The global labour shortage is expected to result in 50 million job vacancies across numerous industries, including manufacturing and logistics. As a global leader in metrology technology, Hexagon is developing humanoid robots to address this challenge.
Industrial sectors rely on skilled workers to perform various error-prone tasks, including operating high-precision scanners for reality capture, collecting digital data to recreate the real world in simulation environments.
At Hexagon's Global Live conference, Hexagon's robotics division unveiled AEON. This humanoid robot, developed through collaboration between Hexagon and NVIDIA, can be used to perform a wide range of industrial tasks, including object manipulation, asset inspection, reality capture, and operator assistance. Hexagon plans to deploy AEON humanoid robots in automotive, transportation, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, warehousing and logistics sectors.
AEON's future application scenarios include:
Reality Capture: Automatically planning and scanning assets, industrial spaces, and environments to generate high-precision three-dimensional models. This captured data will be used for advanced visualisation and collaboration features in Hexagon's Digital Reality platform (HxDR) and support the operation of the Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio (RCS) platform.
